We’re seeking a motivated Global Indirect Tax Senior Manager to join us in supporting Expedia Group’s business brands - Expedia for Business (“E4B”) and our Vacation Rental business (Vrbo). E4B helps to bring millions of travelers together with millions of properties through enabling travel partners to offer Expedia Group travel rates through their own platforms.
You'll be key player on the Global Indirect Tax Team based in London, UK.
The successful candidate will report to the Senior Director of Global Indirect Tax Planning and own key relationships with E4B business stakeholders and Vrbo. Strong written and verbal communications skills are vital to explain complex concepts and to ensure the business implements the right advice. The ideal candidate will develop a deep understanding of global business operations and will work closely with Finance, Legal, Accounting, and Financial Systems/Technology on a range of projects for Expedia Group ’s ecommerce travel platform.
What you'll do:
Partnering and providing indirect tax advice and operational leadership to E4B’s and Vrbo's business partners, and working cross functionally with finance, treasury, legal teams, and external advisers on significant business and indirect tax impacts that are relevant to the group
Drive the automation and scaling of indirect tax systems and processes to support Expedia Group’s rapid international growth and to allow the business to quickly respond to the evolving electronic supplied service tax legislation
Research and document Expedia Group’s indirect tax positions relating to E4B’s and Vrbo's global businesses. Identify and implement required processes, indirect tax control, and improvements
Assist the public policy and business teams in defining and implementing appropriate strategies and solutions in response to new indirect rules applicable to E4B and Vrbo. Helping to craft changes
Review third-party contracts and make recommendations on tax clauses to agreements
Manage and consult with external tax advisors on E4B’s and Verb's business operations and the impact of new indirect tax legislation, tax court decisions and administrative rulings to identify impacts on E4B’s and Verb's existing indirect tax processes and systems arising from these changes
Who you are:
A passion for travel and ecommerce technology platforms
Experience including with public accounting and/or law firms. Industry experience in the technology sector is preferred
VAT/GST experience required
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and quickly adapt to change with a desire to learn
Very strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to distill sophisticated tax technical issues into simple concepts that business partners can understand and help operationalize
Record of collaborating and delivering results working as part of a cross functional team both in the local office and with the global organization
