Career Check-in with Pamela Feng: Senior Tax Analyst

Pamela joined Expedia Group in August 2022, and works in our Seattle HQ Campus, as a Senior Tax Analyst in the Global Tax Reporting team.

The opportunities to explore and gain experience in different areas within the tax discipline, combined with building her product management skills to keep the team on track to meet deadlines, are stand out moments for Pamela that have driven her to excel in her time at EG so far.

Read on to find out more about Pamela’s experience at EG so far, and what life is like as a Senior Tax Analyst below.

Pamela Feng, Senior Tax Analyst, Seattle, WA, USA

I typically start my day reading through emails and going through my task list for the week as well as the next. Our Team has tight deadlines and being proactive in getting through the work is crucial to meeting our goals! I sometimes meet with my manager to go over status updates, questions, or any other pressing items that need to be addressed. Once a week I help lead the weekly status updates for my direct team and we go through progress, questions or any issues, and afterwards we eat lunch together.

One thing that makes EG unique, and something I really like about working in the office, is the expansive Seattle HQ campus that sits right along the Elliott Bay Trail with incredible views of the bay. On clear days, we can even see Mt. Rainier from campus!

Working with a team of bright, kind, and hardworking people is one of the highlights of working at EG for me. Something that makes my team special is that it comprises of talented individuals that leverages each person’s diverse background to work together and reach our goals! I enjoy working in the Global Tax Reporting team because there’s many opportunities to see different areas within the tax discipline. Additionally, the team members are always willing to help other members in the team.

In my near two-year tenure at EG, I have experienced growth in my project management skills, which I am proud of, and includes preparing our annual workplan, and managing the weekly status updates to make sure the team is on track to meet our deadlines, using my organizational and communication skills. I’m excited for the future career and personal opportunities to come!

When I think about some great career advice I’ve received in my career so far, a mentor in college challenged me to “become comfortable with the uncomfortable”! I believe that there is opportunity for the most personal and career growth when you take risks and do something out of your comfort zone. This translates to volunteering for out of scope work opportunities or taking on projects that I have not worked on before, which I try to do.

One of my favorite vacations was exploring Switzerland, specifically Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. I loved the dramatic landscapes featuring mountains and waterfalls!

Travel is a force of good and to me that means being open minded to different perspectives and embracing diversity to work through challenges together.
