Tell us about your current team and role
In my role as a backend engineer, I work cross-functionally with teams to deliver a partner onboarding platform that streamlines the partner onboarding journey. I’m a part of the Platform Solutions Engineering India organization, in the Partner team. The platform we focus on features product selection, configuration settings, and ability to manage partner hierarchy with support for inheritance flow. What makes it truly unique is the opportunity to see everything take shape from the ground up. I regularly get to learn something new and my manager helps with this by providing me with full ownership of tasks that broaden my knowledge, my skillset, and make a meaningful contribution to the team’s overall success.

Some of the technology I use in my role: Kotlin | Spring Boot | Datadog | Elastic | Splunk.
How did your university experience help you to prepare for your career?
I graduated with B.E degree in Computer Science. My coursework was industry relevant, which included foundational subjects like Data Structures & Algorithm, Operating Systems, and Database Management, which has helped me with the responsibilities of my current role. Additionally, unievrsity-organized hackathons encouraged idea generation & real world tech exposure. While I was studying for my career, I also started the hiring process for the EG Internship, which included campus interviews with EG employees. A month before joining the program, my manager contacted me and we had a friendly discussion about life at EG, and the tech-stacks that I would be working on during the internship, so that I could familiarise myself.
What was the EG Intern Program experience like?
I interned in the summer of 2023, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it was the best summer I’ve ever had. It was my first step into the corporate world, and I’m so grateful that it was with Expedia Group. I was encouraged to own my decisions, to learn and allowed to make mistakes – which was always considered a core part of the learning. The internship was filled with exciting sessions with EG leaders, fun social events with Grads, and knowledge-packed learning sessions as part of the onboarding journey. I enjoyed every bit of it!
What is your advice for how to make the most of out of the Intern Program?
- Make sure you’re clear on the task you’re assigned. Don’t be afraid to ask for priorities and the context you need. And most importantly: don’t forget to have fun!
- Try to learn some of the tech stack involved in your work before you start the program.
- Don’t forget to have fun while leaning into this new experience. Get to know your teammates, network, and make an impression.
What has the EG Graduate Program experience been like?
After the internship ended, pre-placement offers were made, and I onboarded as a full time employee in August 2024. The transition from the Intern to the Graduate Program was smooth. The onboarding week was an incredible way to refresh on insights into the business, technology, culture, and a great way to learn from leaders during exclusive Q&A sessions for Grads. We do have an amazing community of Grads here, since we all started the program together. We connect as a whole cohort quarterly, with workshops and events orgranized across the week. In my time so far, EG is such a warm place, it makes you, and your contributions, feel significant. A place where you are truly valued.
What advice would you share for how to make the most of out of the Graduate Program?
- Look forward to new challenges. Soak up as much knowledge and as many experiences as possible. Don’t let your quest for knowledge fade; it helps you excel. It helps you feel invested in the product you’re working on. It’s great to contribute to powering global travel!
- Find the sweet spot between asking questions and self-exploring the task at hand, using your initiative.
- Broaden your knowledge. Speak with your team to get to know more about your product’s architecture and flow.
