Over the past few weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming several new cohorts of interns to our EG offices across the globe. While they’ve been onboarding, skill-building, connecting with fellow Expedians, and getting started on exciting team projects, we took a moment to hear from a few of them. We got a glimpse into what drives these future leaders, and what they hope to achieve during their time with us.
The Intern Program
Interns at Expedia Group join an inclusive community, while gaining inside experience of how our company operates. Those who part of the program get to network with a wide variety of colleagues, speak directly with our senior leaders, present their project work to stakeholders, and attend impactful learning workshops. Learn more about the program here.

Bryson Wingate | North Carolina A&T State University | Cloud Engineering Intern on the Observability Team | San Jose, CA
Why did you decide to join Expedia Group?
I wanted to work somewhere where engineering has a direct impact on how millions of people experience travel. Expedia Group’s scale and the chance to work on real infrastructure — not toy projects — made it stand out.
What do you want to achieve by the end of the program?
I want to ship something that the team actually uses after I leave. Beyond the technical deliverables, I want to come out with a much clearer sense of how production engineering works at scale — the decisions, tradeoffs, and collaboration that don’t show up in a classroom.
What are some activities you enjoy outside of work? I enjoy building Legos and visiting museums in my free time
Rachna Nayak | PES University | Data Science and Analytics Intern on the Advertising Yield & Analytics Team | Bangalore, India
Why did I decide to join EG?
I decided to join Expedia Group because I was excited by the opportunity to be part of a company that helps shape travel experiences for people around the world. I was particularly drawn to the breadth of EG’s portfolio, from its consumer-facing brands to its strong B2B business that serves partners across the travel industry. I was curious to see how different teams come together to solve complex problems and wanted the chance to contribute to products and services that have a real impact. More than anything, I saw EG as a place where I could learn from talented people and start building a strong foundation for my career.
What do I want to achieve by the end of the program?
I want to develop a better understanding of how analytics functions in an organization at the scale of Expedia Group. Everyone I’ve met so far has been incredibly welcoming and generous with their time, and I want to make the most of that by learning as much as I can. I’m looking forward to improving my technical and analytical skills, understanding the business side of analytics, and making meaningful contributions to my team
What do you like to do for fun?
In my free time, I enjoy getting lost in a good book, doing a bit of creative writing and learning new languages. They’re all different ways I like to stay curious and keep discovering new things

Zoe Zhao | McGill University | Software Developer Intern on the Agentic AI & Trip Planning Team | Montreal, Canada
Why did you decide to join EG?
I think that travelling is one of the most impactful experiences someone can undergo in their lives. Expedia Group makes travel more accessible to everyone, while innovating rapidly as a travel technology industry leader. Joining EG was a no-brainer: this opportunity was a perfect alignment to both my personal and professional goals and values.
What do you want to achieve by the end of the program?
One of my goals is to gain a detailed understanding on how agentic AI is leveraged at Expedia Group, and to implement a user-facing feature that helps travelers make informed decisions about their bookings. That aside, I want to be proud to take ownership of what I’ve learned and accomplished, and the network I’ve gained during my time here.
What do you like to do for fun?
I love learning about what the world has to offer: exploring the wonders of nature and the diverse cultures and traditions across the globe. In my free time, I love to play volleyball, listen to music and make chainmaille jewelry!
Harry Ducu | Michigan State University | Data Engineering Intern on the Data Processing & Metrics Platform Team | Austin, TX
Why did you decide to join EG?
I chose EG because of the great culture and the global impact. Traveling is about bringing people together, whether it is friends or family, and that same inclusive, forward-thinking energy is felt not only across the engineering teams here, but all of Expedia Group. I was extremely drawn to Expedia’s effort to unify its brand infrastructure all under one house. I am incredibly grateful to be here and wouldn’t have been able to choose a better company.
What do you want to achieve by the end of the program?
By the end of this program, I want to ensure that the work I’ve completed leaves a lasting, positive impact on my team. I want to absorb as much knowledge as possible from everyone around me and continue building professional connections. Ultimately, I want to finish this internship knowing I grew as an engineer and a collaborator.
What do you like to do for fun?
Outside of the tech world, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, golfing, watching the Packers, and going to Michigan State football games. I also love to travel and experience new places whenever I can.
