Get Hired At Expedia Group: Tips from Springfield Hiring Managers
Interested in breaking into the exciting world of travel technology? Get advice from hiring managers from our Springfield, Missouri office on how to build a winning resume and prepare for a successful interview.
Be Honest and Ask Questions
Firstly, be open and honest. Don’t put anything on your resume you aren’t confident in. Second, flip every interview. Come to an interview with questions for the interviewers. It’s easy to get nervous being interviewed, but don’t forget that the interview is just as much for you to figure out if Expedia Group is the right choice for your career and a place you’ll love working.
– Brandon Hubbell, Director, Software Development Engineering
Craft a Standout Resume
Having a resume that stands out is so important! Take the time to review your resume and have professionals you trust review it as well. Highlight what makes you different from other applicants and don’t be afraid to elaborate on an experience that was impactful to your career. Prior to your interview reflect on past situations where you grew and contributed to those around you. Also take time to reflect on your motivation and core values at work. The interviewer is looking for how you contributed to those around you, and why you acted the way you did in each scenario.
– Caleb Reynolds, Supervisor, Lodging Support Services
Tailor Your Resume
It’s common knowledge that when interviewing you should always tailor your answers to the job that you are applying for, but the same applies to your resume. Make sure that when you’re listing out previous jobs that you are highlighting the responsibilities and achievements that offer transferrable skills to the role that you’re applying for.
– Sam Peterson, Supervisor, Account & Supplier Risk
Focus on Impact and Clarity
When I look at Resumes and LinkedIn profiles, what I need to know is 3 simple things: Where did you work? What did you work on? What was the outcome/impact? This can be expressed in 2-3 bullet points. This gives me enough to inform me on any questions I’ll ask you during an interview. Speaking of which, interviews should be more of a conversation. Interviewers may be asking technical and/or behavioral questions, and you as the candidate should be asking clarifying questions to make sure you understand or ask your own set of questions. With any luck, both of us walk away with learning something new.
