Her journey, from an initial conversation at AfroTech 2024 to joining our Supply Marketing team, highlights the importance of networking, preparation, and a shared passion for travel and innovation. Learn more about her experience and what excites her most about becoming an Expedian.

How would you describe your experience connecting with Expedia Group at AfroTech 2024? 

At first, I was nervous to connect with Expedia Group. However, after meeting a few individuals, they made me feel at ease. Everyone was very down to earth and candid. It was also nice to meet other Black professionals with similar interests. I also heard wonderful things about the Black & Well-Traveled networking event hosted by Expedia Group.

At the time, there were not any positions that fit my specific needs, but I knew it would be a great company to work for just because of my love for travel and planning. A few months later, a recruiter reached out about an opportunity, and I was able to leverage one of my connections from the conference to ask more detailed questions about the company before accepting my offer! 

Can you describe your hiring process and the role you accepted?

My hiring process started right before Thanksgiving in 2024. It was thorough, and I appreciated how the team ensured a balanced assessment of my technical and soft skills, as well as my alignment with Expedia Group’s values. The questions were unique and refreshingly straightforward, which I deeply appreciated after going through multiple interviews elsewhere. I even took the time to create a presentation outlining what I would do if I stepped into this role, which helped me envision my impact on the team. 

In the end, my unique blend of experience in education and the corporate world proved to be an ideal fit for the Sr. Partner Marketing Specialist role on the Supply Marketing team. Im excited to work within the Planning and Performance team, where I will focus on process improvement and collaborate on strategic initiatives that drive growth for Expedia Group.

What excites you about joining Expedia Group?

What excites me the most about Expedia Group is the company’s commitment to innovation, its encouragement to be fearless, make mistakes, and continuously improve, and its mission centered around creating memorable experiences for travelers. As someone who thrives in mission-driven environments and has a deep passion for travel, joining a company that aligns so well with my values is genuinely exciting.  

Additionally, I was looking for a company that would invest in my professional growth, and EG does just that. What is your favorite type of vacation?

My favorite type of vacation is one where I can mix some relaxation with adventure. I also love a destination that is known for its cuisine. Many people love the beach, and while it is nice, I rarely enjoy it for more than a day. I love the mountains, lakes, trees, and rocks! Last year I visited Japan and Switzerland. Japan had incredible food, and Switzerland had incredible nature!
