KC Lakshminarasimham is a Program Management Director, based in our San Francisco, CA, USA, office. KC joined Expedia Group in March 2024, and is driving meaningful change through integrating technology with program management, and has an appreciation of the company-wide efforts to create a support system for employees, to bring out the best in their work.

Career Overview

I have dedicated my career to program management, leading transformative initiatives across diverse industries such as banking, healthcare, retail, and technology. My journey has taken me from India, to China, and across the United States, where I’m currently Director of Program Management at Expedia Group. In this role, I oversee our Engineering Productivity and Agile Center of Excellence. I am motivated by the opportunity to merge cutting-edge technology with program management to enhance processes, predict risks, and achieve strategic outcomes. My leadership philosophy is centered on building trust and fostering alignment between technical teams and business stakeholders.

Beyond my professional responsibilities, I am involved in scholarly work. I’ve had the privilege of peer-reviewing publications, conference papers, and books, on topics ranging from AI to agile methodologies and leadership. My own writing has appeared in both academic and industry publications, reflecting my ongoing commitment to the growth of the field. My contributions to the profession have been recognized through my Honorary Doctorate in Project Management from Azteca University and fellowships with esteemed organizations like the British Computer Society, Chartered Management Institute, and more.

Why did you decide to join Expedia Group?

Expedia Group perfectly blends my passion for technology, program management, and the transformative power of travel. After gaining invaluable experience at previous companies, including start-ups, I was eager to apply my skills on a global scale within an industry that touches people’s lives in meaningful ways. Expedia Group’s innovative approach to making the world more accessible resonated deeply with me. What are some of your team’s responsibilities?

I am a part of the Enablement org which supports all of Expedia Group at every level with program management and business operations. One of the major focuses of my team has been to integrate with engineering productivity and developer experience teams. We support the evangelization of cycle time across engineering using a new tool named LinearB. It’s a metric that we are attempting to bring uniformity across the board to improve overall efficiency. Another major effort that my team is vested in is JIRA standardization at all levels, plus we are also building a robust Agile Center of Excellence.

What has your experience in the EG San Francisco office been like so far?

The San Francisco office has an amazing vibe where folks are very welcoming. The openness in the company, topped with a focus on work-life balance, definitely makes this a place where careers can blossom. Though EG is a large company with many great global offices – the connectivity and events are well-organized and we get the feel right here. Activities like the global EG Hackathon, and all-hands, are great. Being in San Francisco’s financial district, the office is well connected. A special feature of the office is how the meeting rooms are based on early video game concepts, it’s thrilling to see this every time I go in. I love my trips to our Seattle HQ – the sprawling campus and bustling life is wonderful to witness in-person.
