Amit Bar | Operations Specialist | Gurgaon, India

Tell us about your team and role.

Working in the Global Customer Command Centre team as an Operation Specialist, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with contact centres worldwide. Our team is based out of Bulgaria, India, and Peru, and I work in the India team. When the centres face tool-related issues, our team steps in to triage, resolve, and ensure smooth operations, so that travelers can receive the support they deserve. Knowing that the work I do has a direct impact on people’s travel experiences is very fulfilling.

I have built a good understanding of the team and the processes so far. During my initial training, I had the opportunity to learn how to use multiple agents’ tool – like Softphone, Voyager Classic, V-next, and Salesforce. We are now learning new tools like Datadog, Salesforce’s One Desk, and Splunk.

Whether it’s guidance on projects or just a kind word on challenging days, the camaraderie within the team keeps me motivated. The managers here encourage us to take ownership of tasks while providing the impactful mentorship needed to succeed. This blend of trust and support has been instrumental in my growth. EG’s commitment to creating an inclusive culture is evident in every aspect of the organization. For PWD employees, this means having access to resources, communities, and opportunities that make it possible to thrive. It’s not just about meeting our needs; it’s about celebrating our potential.

What has your experience been like so far as a PWD employee at Expedia Group Gurgaon?

Accessibility has been one of the standout aspects of my journey at EG. The office structure is thoughtfully designed to ensure inclusivity, creating a space where I can work comfortably and confidently. As I work in shifts, sometimes I’m working late in the office – so having a flexible desk with an adjustable height, and a wide monitor setup, definitely helps.

Beyond the infrastructure, what truly makes EG special is the sense of belonging it fosters. As a PWD employee, I’ve experienced policies that are not only inclusive but also empowering, enabling me to work independently and take ownership of my responsibilities. Joining the Ability Inclusion Movement (AIM) at Expedia Group, a community for PWD employees and allies, has been particularly meaningful. It’s a space where we can openly discuss our experiences, share insights, and support one another, making it easier to navigate both personal and professional challenges.

Why did you decide to work at Expedia Group?

What drew me to EG was the opportunity to learn and grow in an organization that operates on a global scale and uses cutting-edge technology. The hybrid working model and flexible hours also would allow me to strike a balance between work and family – something I appreciate. My hiring journey with EG was also seamless, accommodating, and conducted virtually, with interviews scheduled at times that suited me. This level of flexibility, and respect for my time, made me feel valued right from the start.  And lastly, I was even given an opportunity to share my experiences with the AIM community, during an event, which was really motivating.

Why would you recommend a career at Expedia Group?

For anyone considering joining Expedia Group, especially in India, this is an exciting time. With the region experiencing significant growth, there are abundant opportunities to learn, develop, and make a meaningful impact. To anyone wondering whether EG is the right place for PWD employees, my answer is a resounding ‘yes’. The environment here is supportive, the policies are empowering, and the people truly care. At Expedia Group, I’ve found more than just a workplace – I’ve found a community where I can grow, contribute, and be myself.
