Tell us about your team and your role.
The Ad Portal Support team specialise in Sponsorship Ad Projects including TravelAds and Flight Sponsored Listings. We deliver technical support and strategic guidance to our global hotel and air partners while collaborating closely with internal teams and escalating complex cases. We triage a wide range of cases, including billing inquiries, user interface concerns, reporting and display-related issues – making each day uniquely challenging. Our team operates with a strong mutual trust, enabling us to efficiently manage daily tasks and drive forward projects that integrate transformative technology into our Sponsorship Ads.
In my role as a Technical Ad Operations Specialist I get to develop a technical skill set while forcing simplicity in discussions with colleagues and partners. By supporting our Sponsorship Ad projects, I have daily exposure to how hotels, airlines, and global travel partners promote visibility, manage their digital presence, and compete in an evolving marketplace.
My key learnings would be how critical data quality is for effective travel advertising. Small discrepancies can create big issues for reporting and insights, which is why our portals provide accessible data retrieval.
How did the university experience help to prepare you for working at EG?
[University attended: Nottingham Trent University | Graduated: in Spring 2024 | Major in: BA International Business]
Studying International Business provided me with an understanding of global business structures and how they operate. It also supported my ability to navigate cross-cultural communication to collaborate effectively with global partners. Having the opportunity to study abroad at ESIC, Valencia enabled me to immerse myself in a new culture and language, an experience that has been invaluable in preparing me for a career within a multinational organisation.
How has being on the Graduate program contributed to your experience?
The Graduate Program provided me the opportunity to shape my career in a way that aligned with my goals. With the Mentorship Program, Inclusion Business Group activities, and networking panels, our schedules have been kept busy. While there were certainly challenging moments, having the support of the commercial graduate cohort has allowed us all to lean on each other as we develop in our careers.
What is a recent accomplishment you’re proud of?
I really enjoyed coming up with a concept to streamline our Flight Sponsored Listing internal process by integrating Expedia Group’s AI tools. Although the technology is still evolving and not yet ready for full-scale implementation, it’s motivating to be a part of a team who support innovative thinking and encourage experimentation.
What opportunities have you had to learn and develop in your role?
As our team grows, there are new projects constantly emerging, as well as the freedom to initiate our own. I’ve been able to consistently develop my skills as each day brings on new challenges. One of the most valuable aspects of my development has been the ability to connect with more senior colleagues who are always willing to guide me through the processes. Through their expertise, I’ve been able to accelerate my learning and think more critically.
